  • Our Country in Crisis

Dear friends,

As you know there is a major crisis in our country and I just thought I'd give you a couple reasons to call all your state legislators and ask them to REJECT ANY BAILOUT.  Look at the plan as it's been proposed and the pure insanity that's trying to be shoved into this "SKY IS FALLING" bill.

This part of the bill gives Treaury Secretary Paulson the authority to hire anyone he wants to help him out of this mess.  Anyone else want a safe job during a crisis?

(b) Necessary Actions.–The Secretary is authorized to take such actions as the Secretary deems necessary to carry out the authorities in this Act, including, without limitation:

(1) appointing such employees as may be required to carry out the authorities in this Act and defining their duties;

This next part makes Paulson COMPLETELY UNACCOUNTABLE TO ANYONE.  IT'S A BLANK CHECKBOOK WITH AN ACCOUNT OF $700 BILLION FOR HIM TO SPEND AS HE SEES FIT.

Sec. 8. Review.

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.

This week China told its banks to not lend the United States any more money.  In 1 single day this past week our dollar lost 6% of its value.  Oil was in the low $90's per barrel and that loss of value shot the price of oil TO US up over $100.  As the dollar loses value everything is going to become more expensive.  The fastest way to devalue the dollar is for the Treasury to print $700 billion of new currency.  Putting more money into circulation without anything to back it just makes the money that's already in circulation worth less (ie. worthless).

Sec. 10. Increase in Statutory Limit on the Public Debt.

Subsection (b) of section 3101 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by striking out the dollar limitation contained in such subsection and inserting in lieu thereof $11,315,000,000,000.

(that's 11 Trillion in KNOWN debt)

The former comptroller of the United States (David Walker) resigned on March 8th, 2008 because the United States Government doesn't do accounting like they require everyone else to do.  They don't book certain liabilities that they require companies to show on financial statements.  The United States of America has unfunded obligations that put our current debt over $50 TRILLION dollars.  Mr. Walker is now the president and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation which is trying to raise awareness of this critical issue. (PLEASE visit this site http://www.pgpf.org/)

Expect world conflicts to increase as well since Russia needs oil prices to be high for their economy while the United States needs it to be low for ours.  The Russian stock market tanked this week when oil went below $100 a barrel.  They need instability and high prices or they run into economic problems.

The answer is for government to get out of our lives and let free-markets work.  We need a return to the principles our Founding Fathers gave us.

A bailout of these companies by our government is an embrace of socialism and a rejection of everything our Founding Fathers fought, bled, and died for.  If you want to avoid going down that road and maintain your freedom even in the face of some challenging times ahead, CALL YOUR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES RIGHT AWAY, EVEN THIS WEEKEND AND FILL THEIR ANSWERING MACHINES WITH YOUR VIEW.  THEY WILL ONLY LISTEN IF YOU SPEAK UP AND THERE'S PRECIOUS LITTLE TIME TO SPEAK.

Here are the names and numbers for those of you in Utah.  If you're outside of Utah, go to www.congress.gov to find your legislators.   If your legislator's office says "we don't have a position yet because no bill has been proposed" what they mean is it hasn't been finalized.  In fact, now that a bill is being created, some in congress are trying to shove PORK FOR THEIR DONORS into this bill.

Make your voice heard before it's too late.  Then quit voting for incumbents that aren't actively trying to cut spending by massive amounts.  Our country can't take it anymore.
